Final Electoral Roll Of Nadia To Be Published On September 28: DM

Krishnanagar, Aug. 24: The final electoral roll of Nadia district is all set to be published on September 28. AtNadia District Magistrate Somesh Bhattacharjeepresent the works revision of the draft electoral roll last published on July 9, enrolling new names, deletion and shifting of the names of the electorate are in progress which will be likely to be completed by the first week of September. The district has made an all time record in receiving the application for enrollment as new voters this year. This has been stated by Nadia District Magistrate Somesh Kumar Bhattacharjee during a media interaction that occurred late in the evening at his chamber in Krishnanagar.

 

Mr. Bhattacharjee said: “A total 3, 38,423 new applications under prescribed format (Form – 6) have been received by the district administrations which are being verified at the concerned levels.”

 

The DM termed this aspect as an outcome of ‘civic awareness’ among the people.  The last electoral roll, a draft one, was published on July 9.

 

He also informed that the administration has received 1208 application form for revision of names, 43643 applications (Form-8) for correction of names in the electoral roll and 20797 applications for under prescribed format of Form-8A for shifting of names of the electorate in the electoral roll.

 

As far as issuing electoral photo identity card (EPIC), the district has also made a sort of record with 99.48% coverage of the present electorate. The preparedness and other formalities in connection with preparation of the electoral roll have satisfied the election commission with which the DM has held special video conference on August 6.

 

Meanwhile, DM Mr. Bhattacharjee has also appraised that the district administration has opened four permanent EPIC centre at the four SDO offices in the district – Kalyani, Ranaghat, Krishnanagar (Sadar) and in Tehatta. Mr. Bhattacharjee said: “I have personally visited the works and given necessary instruction to the AROs for smooth execution of the works.”
